CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Classroom management is an integral part of teaching. It is important to find a balance between creating a structured environment where students feel safe and stable, yet also encourages them to take risks and explore.
My approach to classroom management
Organization of the Classroom
I believe that the physical space of a classroom and how it is organized plays a fundamental role in a student's ability to learn and interact with others. I'm a proponent of what Maria Montessori refers to as the prepared environment; which is essentially about ensuring the classroom environment is suited to the students' stage of development, while making materials easily accessible to them in an orderly format so that they have the freedom to explore their natural tendencies and interests. I believe that the classroom layout should be functional, yet also flexible, to encourage students to work both independently and cooperatively.

establishing Classroom rules
At the beginning of the year, my students and I established classroom rules.
In order for a lesson to run smoothly, I think it is important for students to be reminded of the rules and what is expected of them. Having students take part in establishing the rules allows them to feel a part of the shared community.

Word Wall
A word wall is a great resource to have up in the classroom. My CT and I created one at the beginning of the year. Many of the students in my class benefitted from having a word wall at their disposal.
