Technology in the Classroom
Technology can be used in the classroom to facilitate interactive learning. It is my aim to expose learners into using technology meaningfully. I am a strong advocate for the use of technology in the classroom. Students are digital citizens who must be exposed to using technology as a tool to further foster their learning and discovery.
Integrating Technology into the Classroom:
I have used the SmartBoard to further develop concepts when introducing a lesson. Students are able to participate and engage in their own learning. Below are a few examples of how I've integrated the SmartBoard in when teaching a lesson.

A mathematical word problem.

A mathematical word problem. The student used the 10 grid to facilitate his/her learning.

A mathematical word problem. The student illustrated his/her thinking by drawing the animals and counting each one to find out the sum.
iPad Applications integrated into the Classroom:
The iPad can serve as a purposeful tool to use in the classroom.
During my Fe3, I introduced students to the application called "Math" that reinforced 2-digit addition and subtraction. It was child friendly and the application even allowed me to adapt the game depending on the learner's ability.

Integrating Prezi into the Classroom:
Prezi is a wonderful platform I have used to create lessons. I have been able to incorporate educational YouTube videos and images which appealed to the visual and auditory learners in my classroom.
Below are a few images from an ERC Prezi that I created which focused on similarities and differences between animals and humans.

In the grade 1 ERC class, we had a discussion after reading the book, "The Watcher."

Students put on their imaginary binoculars to become a "watcher" just like Jane Goodall.

Students were able to describe what they saw in the image and explain where dolphins live in relation to where they live.

Students were introduced to a graphic organizer.
Introducing Cellphilms into the Classroom:
I was introduced to the word "cellphilms" when taking EDEE 282 Teaching Social Sciences at McGill. Cellphilms are 60-90 second videos created using a cellphone. I have yet to integrate cellphilms into a classroom, but I hope to one day incorporate a lesson that illustrates to students how cellphones can be used as a powerful tool to convey a story through creating a video.
Below is the video I created entitled SHE. The Cellphilm explores time and space in relation to where my blankie has traveled. Over the years my blankie has changed in terms of her physical appearance, but the one thing that has remained constant is how she has offered me comfort.
