Introduction to 2-d Geometric Shapes
What the lesson was about:
- In this lesson, students were introduced to 2-d shapes. They got the opportunity to explore different learning stations that focused on geometric shapes. By the end of the lesson, students were able to identify certain characteristics of each shape.
What worked well in the lesson:
-Students worked co-operatively in their respected groups. They took turns sharing materials.
-Each station allowed students to explore shapes in a different way.
-Students were active participants in their learning as they were able to experience the stations using a hands on approach.
What did I learn/ What I would change?
- I enjoyed observing students during this lesson. I was really impressed with how students formed their own creations using the different shapes in the "Shape Building" station.
-I would have liked to have incorporated the use of technology (ie: an iPad application) to further develop the concept.
In this math lesson, I've developed the Professional Competencies 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.
