Math Lesson - Introduction to cartesian plane

What the Lesson was About:

-Students were introduced to the mathematical concept of how to locate points on a Cartesian plane.

-Students learnt how to identify coordinates on the Cartesian plane.

What worked well during the lesson:

- Students enjoyed coming up to the SmartBoard and locating the coordinates. It allowed students to actively engage with their learning.

-Students were able to use what they learnt by working on a reinforcement handout.

-As I was circulating the room, I noticed that many students were understanding the the concept.

What did I learn?/ What I would Change:

- Time was a factor in this lesson. There was not enough time to wrap up completely. I wanted students to fill out an exit card. I ended up asking the class to write the exit card about something that they found interesting or what they learnt the next class.

- I would have liked to have structured my time a little better that way the closure of the lesson is not rushed.

In this Math lesson, I've developed the Professional Competencies 1, 2, 4, and 8.
